Solving Dinnertime Dilemmas
The following testimony is from a long-time SupperWorks customer, who uses our meals as the base of her weekly meal planning.
Dinnertime was always my stumbling block. With a full-time career, two children in competitive sports and the daily struggle of just trying to keep it all under control, my last big task of the day—making dinner—always seemed to fall short. Last minute dinner ideas led to poor choices and far too much waste. I had guilt about throwing away money and food and knowing that my active children needed to be eating better.
My solution came in the form of a gift certificate to SupperWorks. A girlfriend gave it to me as a Christmas gift 10 years ago. At the time, we decided a new year needed a new plan and this is how we were going to solve our dinnertime dilemmas.
After our first SupperWorks session, we were hooked. The recipes were easy to follow (even with their complimentary glass of wine!) and you could see the freshness of the meat and produce; it was right in front of you, already washed and prepared. There was no need to wash, peel and slice, just simply use what you needed for the recipe, with no work and no waste. Every spice, measuring cup and spoon were within reach—it was so easy.
In two hours we each prepared 12 freezable meals; each meal serving six portions. It was a lot of food (six generous pieces of chicken, fish, pork chops, etc. in each meal). My family of four could have dinner one night AND leftovers the next day. SupperWorks completely transformed my meal planning from that day forward.
With a few exceptions, I have used SupperWorks as part of my weekly meal plan for the past ten years. I make 12 meals per month, which gives me four weeks of meals (three meals per week).
Sunday – We use a SupperWorks meal to enjoy a nice family dinner.
Monday – We prepare a simple supper—tacos, omelets, soup and sandwich—whatever is quick and easy.
Tuesday – Quick and easy, pre-assembled and delicious SupperWorks meal.
Wednesday – We usually eat leftovers or create a simple supper with ingredients already in the fridge.
Thursday – I cook a SupperWorks meal and I love that many recipes are ready in as little as 15 minutes.
Fridays – Usually, Friday night is our homemade pizza night where we can use up any ingredients that have accumulated throughout the week.
Saturday – Depending on our schedule, we make a simple meal or sometimes we treat ourselves to a dinner out.
It’s perfect: every week I have three nutritious weekday dinners prepared (by me) and ready to go. All I have to shop for is two simple suppers and I’m done. Using SupperWorks every month saves me time and money and leaves us with zero food waste, less time grocery shopping and more time with my family around the dinner table.
We’re in the next stage of family life now with children in college and university. With the option to split our SupperWorks meals into smaller packages, I’m able to keep half of my prepared meals for my husband and I and send the rest with our children to school. It’s a win-win situation—they save time and money having their meals already prepared and I feel great knowing they are still eating well.
